Do-It-Yourself (DIY) - SMS
Star Trek Ring Tones, Logo, Picture Messages

    Requirement:
  • Handphone with Infra-red (eg: Nokia, Siemens, Samsung, etc.)
  • PDA (eg: 3-Com Palm®, IBM WordPad, Handspring Visor, Sony CLIÉ, HandEra, TRG Pro, etc.)


   Picture SMS


  • Download Monkey Card v1.0 and install it onto your Palmtop.

  • Start Monkey Card v1.0, click NEW button to design a picture message.

  • Use your stylus pen to draw on the screen. (Be Patient!)

  • You may click on the Magnifying-glass button to zoom-in onto the design.

  • When design is completed, click SAVE button.

  • From your handphone "SMS settings", take note of your SMS Centre number, eg: +65xxxxxxxx (SMS Centre number is NOT your handphone number!)

  • In the palmtop, click on Pull-down Menu button, select OPTIONS, then SERVICE CENTER. Next enter your SMS Centre number in the SERVICE CENTER. Click OK.

  • Activate your handphone's infra-red function.

  • In the palmtop, select a Picture Message, click SEND button.

  • Enter the handphone number of yours or anyone else, and click SEND button. (Make sure Handphone's infra-red is facing palm's infra-red.) The picture SMS is sent.
BEWARE: The cost of each Picture SMS sent is equivalent to 3 SMS sent!


   Calling Group / Operator Logo


  • Download Monkey Logo v1.3 and install both the program (MonkeyLogo.prc) and Insert_Operator (mccmnc.prc) onto your Palmtop.

  • Start Insert_Operator, scroll down to SINGAPORE, and insert 4 operators (Singtel-GSM, Singtel-PCN, M1, Starhub).

  • Start Monkey Logo v1.3, click NEW button to design a logo. Operator Logo is the default logo on handphone, Calling Group Logo only appears when the caller is in your designated group.

  • Use your stylus pen to draw on the screen. You may click on the Magnifying-glass button to zoom-in onto the design.

  • When design is completed, click SAVE button.

  • From your handphone "SMS settings", take note of your SMS Centre number, eg: +65xxxxxxxx (SMS Centre number is NOT your handphone number!)

  • In the palmtop, click on Pull-down Menu button, select OPTIONS, then SERVICE CENTER. Next enter your SMS Centre number in the SERVICE CENTER. Click OK.

  • Activate your handphone's infra-red function.

  • In the palmtop, select a logo, click SEND button.

  • Enter the handphone number of yours or anyone else, select either OPERATOR or CALLING GROUP, then select the correct Phone Operator, and click SEND button. (Make sure Handphone's infra-red is facing palm's infra-red.) The logo is sent.
WARNING: If Operator Logo is accepted, it will replace/override the current handphone logo, rendered the old logo unrecoverable.


   Ring Tone


  • Download Monkey Tone v1.2 and install it onto your Palmtop.

  • Start Monkey Tone v1.2, click NEW button to compose a new song.
  • Use your stylus pen to tab on the musical keys. (Do not worry about the speed just yet.)

  • Use "delete" stroke to remove incorrect notes.

  • Click on the PLAY button to play-back the notes entered. Repeat the steps until you satisfied.

  • After all the notes are entered, align the speed for each note. (Try to slow down each note.)

  • Click on the PLAY button to play-back the notes entered. Repeat the steps until you satisfied.

  • When music is composed, click SAVE button.

  • Anytime if you need to save the tones, click on the button next to the left of PLAY button, give the tone a name, and click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

  • If you happen to mass up the editing (which frequently happens), click CANCEL AND CLOSE.
  • From your handphone "SMS settings", take note of your SMS Centre number, eg: +65xxxxxxxx (SMS Centre number is NOT your handphone number!)

  • In the palmtop, click on Pull-down Menu button, select OPTIONS, then SERVICE CENTER. Next enter your SMS Centre number in the SERVICE CENTER. Click OK.

  • Activate your handphone's infra-red function.

  • In the palmtop, select a ring tone, click SEND button.

  • Enter the handphone number of yours or anyone else, and click SEND button. (Make sure Handphone's infra-red is facing palm's infra-red.) The ring tone is SMS out.


NOTE : We regret that we do not provide technical support in the event the above procedures fail to work, as the problems could be caused by differences in handphone models, palmtop models, SMS connection, program bugs ... which are beyond our efforts to trouble-shoot.
